SMC dominates Monterey City Amateur

Saint Mary’s senior Hunter Rappleye proved it is a smart thing to listen to your parents.  The Sacramento native received a pep talk from his father, Kevin, then proceeded to overcome a poor start to earn medalist honors at the Monterey City Amateur Sunday at Del Monte Golf Course.

Rappleye fired rounds of 70-71-71 to finish with a 54-hole score of 212 to finish just one stroke ahead of runner-up Blake Hathcoat, a SMC signee from Fresno who will arrive in Moraga for the fall term in August.

In addition to earning the individual title, Rappleye was one of two golfers to drain a hole-in-one during the tournament – his third overall and first in a competitive event.
