The Saint Mary’s baseball team received some national recognition Monday when it appeared on the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association’s national poll in the “Others Receiving Votes” section. The organization’s 13th poll this season listed 21 teams receiving votes this week in alphabetical order, including 2016 Saint Mary’s opponents Arizona, Oregon and Stanford.
It was the second time this season the Gaels received votes in the NCBWA poll after being listed on the April 18th poll following a series victory over then-No. 21 BYU on April 14-16. Saint Mary’s also received two votes in the April 18 USA Today Baseball Coaches’ Poll.
Saint Mary’s won its seventh West Coast Conference series in as many tries over the weekend, taking two of three from Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. The series victory gave the Gaels a one-game lead and sole possession of first place in the conference standings.
