Former Saint Mary’s baseball pitcher Kyle Barraclough was recalled to the Major Leagues Sunday with the Miami Marlins and he made an immediate impact. Barraclough struck out the side in the seventh inning Sunday against the Atlanta Braves, striking out Erick Aybar, Adonis Garcia and Kelly Johnson on the same day he was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans.
Barraclough ended the 2015 season with the Marlins but did not make the team out of spring training because of control issues (eight walks and eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings). Instead, he went to New Orleans where he refined his control to the tune of nine strikeouts and just one walk in six innings of work, earning a call-up to the majors.
