Simpson returns to Estudiantes

Former Saint Mary’s forward Diamon Simpson has returned to Spain to play for Movil Estudiantes in Liga Endesa.  The Hayward native most recently played for Ironi Nes-Ziona in Israel’s Winner League and averaged 15.6 points, 10.7 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game.

He played for Estudiantes last season, appearing in 34 games with averages of 8.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per game.

Simpson is the third former SMC player in Spain’s top league, joining Ian O’Leary (Iberostar Tenerife) and Stephen Holt (MoraBanc Andorra).  A total of 26 former SMC players are playing professionally in seven different countries.

He has played also professionally in Australia (Adelaide 36ers), Philippines (Alaska Aces), Turkey (Turk Telekom), NBA (Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets) and D-League (Los Angeles D-Fenders).
