Baseball America Ranks Burnes No. 22 College Draft Prospect

Saint Mary’s College baseball junior right-handed pitcher Corbin Burnes was named Baseball America’s No. 22 MLB draft prospect among college players Tuesday.

The well-known publication released its annual spring rankings ahead of the 2016 season, beginning in February. The rankings list the top-100 MLB draft prospects that are currently playing college baseball.

Burnes ranked No. 13 among pitchers on the list and No. 10 among right-handed pitchers. Burnes was one of only two West Coast Conference players on the list, the other being San Diego shortstop Bryson Brigman, ranked No. 47.

Burnes was 7-5 with a 3.74 ERA last season. He threw three complete games while striking out 91 and only walking 33. He posted a 1.19 WHIP (walks plus hits per innings pitched) and held opponents to a .230 batting average in 89 innings.
