Former Saint Mary’s forward Brad Waldow made a surprise appearance at McKeon Pavilion during the Gaels’ triumphant 85-74 win over rivals BYU. One of the top players in Saint Mary’s men’s basketball history, Waldow now plays professionally in Belgium for the Port of Antwerp Giants.
When asked about life in Europe and the Gaels, the fourth-leading scorer and rebounder in program history still keeps a close eye on SMC basketball.

“I’ve been able to watch all of their games so far, even the one from a couple of days ago against Utah Valley,” said Waldow. “I also watched the heartbreak loss at Cal, but yeah – I’m just trying to catch as many games as possible.”
Though watching from afar, Waldo sees the tremendous potential of this year’s squad.
“This team can go real far this season,” said Waldow on the team’s success this season. “They got the big guys and the tremendous shooters. They got everything needed to go far.”
On such a special night, it was certainly a pleasure to see one of the most accomplished and decorated players in program history, and we all wish for greater things to come in the new year.
