Hardy helps NCGA amateurs take Cup victory

Saint Mary’s men’s golf coach Scott Hardy won his singles match over TPC Harding Park’s Mitch Lowe and teamed with four-ball partner Ben Peters  to help the NCGA retain the Hanna-Wehrman Cup for the 10th straight year.

The Hanna-Wehrman Cup features 10 amateur players representing the NCGA (top players from the previous season’s points list) taking on 10 professional players representing the Northern California PGA in a Ryder Cup-like format.

“I struggled on day 1 of the cup, but fortunately I was able to make some much needed putts to be competitive.  The second day, I played well.  I kept the ball in good position and made crucial putts to win holes.

“The Hanna-Wehrman Cup is a good event and my main goal every year is to play well in the singles match.  Winning that match against a solid opponent and contributing to the team was was a lot of fun.”
