Saint Mary’s baseball player Ed Haus will return to Moraga this fall with some serious hardware in tow as the outfielder capped a tremendous summer in the Hamptons League by being named MVP in a vote of league coaches.
Haus, who earned six of a possible seven first-place votes, had a summer to remember while playing for the Shelter Island Bucks. He led the league in hitting with a .360 batting average, earned MVP honors at the league’s All-Star game thanks to a 2 for 3 game that included a 2-run home run and helped Shelter Island capture the 2015 league championship.
Next up is the start of fall classes for Haus and the rest of the SMC baseball team. Fall practice will follow, and the Gaels will return to Louis Guisto Field in the spring with their sights set on further improvement under third-year head coach Eric Valenzuela.
