Saint Mary’s outfielder/pitcher Anthony Gonsolin continues to impress as a member of the Madison Mallards in the Northwoods League and his standout summer earned him a spot in his hometown newspaper as the Vacaville, Calif. native was profiled today by Matt Miller of the Vacaville Reporter.
Gonsolin will compete in the Northwoods League All-Star game tonight as well as the league’s Home Run Challenge at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin. He is one of the league leaders when it comes to the long ball, with 10 home runs to go along with a .309 average, 56 hits, 39 runs, 10 doubles, 35 RBI and 12 stolen bases.
And, Gonsolin won’t be the only Gael looking to launch a few home runs before the All-Star game gets started. Catcher Nate Nolan, who is playing for the Thunder Bay Border Cats this summer, will also compete in the Home Run Challenge. Nolan led Saint Mary’s in home runs in 2014 and has four for the Border Cats so far this summer.
