The summer edition of Saint Mary’s Magazine hit the rack today and gave fans of SMC athletics plenty of reading to catch up on.
A story on Saint Mary’s catcher Ian McLoughlin that debuted on SMCGaels.com appears as a feature story in the magazine but readers who pick up the hard copy will be reminded why print really does still matter. The accompanying layout and photos provided by the SMC Magazine staff and photographer Matt Edge give the reader additional insight and paint a captivating picture for the accompanying story.
The magazine also kicks off with a photo of the new Alioto Recreation Center and includes briefs on Patrick Mills’ jersey retirement, Matthew Dellavedova’s run in the NBA playoffs and SMC grad Pete Morelli earning the NFL’s Art McNally Award. Recent SMC graduate Caitlin McLain penned a piece on former Gaels turned professional baseball players Ryan Brockett and DonAndre Clark while Holland Enke wrote a story on the SMC women’s rugby team and Lynn Armitage chronicled champion water skiier and 2011 grad Brian Detrick. And, readers weighed in on SMC men’s rugby winning its second-straight national championship.
