Former Saint Mary’s baseball player Jake Smith is back in Northern California this week but his visit actually has nothing to do with the diamond.
Since graduating from SMC in 1996, Smith has gone on to establish a successful career as a singer-songwriter. He performs under the name “The White Buffalo” and his songs have been featured on the hit TV series Sons of Anarchy. In late June, the Los Angeles Times profiled Smith to tell the story of the Huntington Beach, Calif. native who played for two seasons at Saint Mary’s before entering the music industry as an artist whose music ranges anywhere from rock to country to folk and everything in between.
This weekend, The White Buffalo brings his act to Northern California beginning Friday with a two-night run at Moe’s Alley in Santa Cruz. On Sunday, he’ll play Napa Winery before heading back to his Southern California base. For more information on Smith and his tour, visit The White Buffalo website.
