Aussies advance to quarterfinals at FIBA U19 World Championships

The Australian U19 National Team, which includes three incoming Saint Mary’s freshmen, has advanced to the quarterfinals at the FIBA U19 World Championships in Greece after racing past Tunisia 93-64 today in the final game of group play.

The Emus finished third in Group C and will play Serbia, which finished second in Group D, tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. (Pacific) at Heraklion (Greece) University Hall.

Australia dropped tightly-contested decisions to Canada (71-74) and Italy (67-69) in its first two games before rebounding with today’s victory.

Guard Tanner Krebs, forward Kyle Clark and center Jordan Hunter will each attend SMC in the fall.  The Aussies are coached by former SMC player and assistant coach Adam Caporn.
