Townsville Crocodiles sign Mitchell Young

The Townsville Crocodiles have announced their first player signing for the 2015/16 NBL season, securing the services of former Saint Mary’s forward Mitchell Young on a 2-year contract.

Last season Young was part of the Cairns Taipans’ historical line-up, helping them win the club’s first minor NBL premiership with a 21-7 record to take secure them a Grand Finals appearance.

The 23-year old averaged 2.7 points and 2.1 rebounds in the 2014/15 season and joins the rival Queensland team after two years with the Snakes:

“It’s tough leaving Cairns and all the guys, especially after the season we had, but I’m really looking forward to playing for the Crocs and hopefully playing a bigger role,” said Young.

“Last season was great because I learned what it takes to win in the NBL, what it takes to be one of the better teams in the League and how to be consistent. It was good to learned from their experienced front court and this really helped develop my game.”
