End of the year awards and accolades continue to roll in now that the West Coast Conference baseball season is over and three Gaels earned a new set of honors over the weekend as College Sports Madness named its All-WCC teams.
Just a week after earning the same distinction from the WCC, Saint Mary’s third baseman Anthony Villa landed on the first team for his work at the plate and at the hot corner. The Danville, Calif. native hit .343 this season and tied for the team lead in RBI with 39. Infielder Zach Kirtley and outfielder/pitcher Anthony Gonsolin were also honored, each receiving a spot on the second team.
Villa, Kirtley and Gonsolin will all continue to develop their skills this summer as each travels to a new locale for the offseason. Villa is set to play for the Quincy Gems of the Prospect League, Kirtley will take the field with the Bethesda Big Train of the Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League and Gonsolin will play for the Madison Mallards of the Northwoods League.
