WBK | Beck Making Strides For Gaels and New Zealand

Stella Beck of the Saint Mary’s women’s basketball team is being noticed both in the states and back home in New Zealand. Jeff Taylor (FIBA) recently wrote a brief update on the SMC standout.

Beck recently completed her freshman campaign for the Gaels, earning West Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year honors. Beck led the WCC in field-goal percentage, shooting at a .550 clip, converting 99-of-180 field-goals.

For the year, Beck averaged 8.1 ppg and 6.1 rpg, scoring in double-figures in 14 of 33 games played. Beck had season highs of 17 points and 14 rebounds. Before making the move to Moraga, Beck made herself known in her hometown of Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The article discusses her experiences and the continuing rise of New Zealand hoops.
