If Spring Training is a player’s best chance to show a new organization what he’s capable of, count former Saint Mary’s baseball player Kyle Jensen as one of those making a tremendous first impression this year.
In camp with the Los Angeles Dodgers as a non-roster invitee, Jensen is among the team leaders in several statistical categories entering Thursday’s Cactus League action. He’s hitting .389 (7 for 18) with a team-high two home runs, six RBI and eight runs scored in just 13 games played. Having been traded from the Marlins to the Dodgers in the offseason, Jensen is playing outfield and first base for his new team.
Oh, and then there was that night Jensen found himself on first base when the Dodgers debuted their newest pitching prospect. Fast forward to about 2:55 on the clip below to see Jensen get in the action with a crafty right-hander named Will Ferrell. Video is courtesy of MLB.com and the Dodgers.
