Saint Mary’s women’s basketball signee Sydney Raggio has been named the West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) Player of the Year, it was announced by the league office.
Raggio will be a freshman in 2015-16 for the Gaels. The 6-foot-1 forward has continued to improve each year and has led St. Ignatius to a 20-4 record and 10-2 WCAL mark. According to MaxPreps, Raggio is averaging nearly a double-double with 11.1 ppg and 9.6 rpg, while shooting 59 percent from the field.
The WCAL Player of the Year is expected to fit right in with the Gaels as SMC will lose three forwards to graduation in 2015 (Amanda Arter, Hayley Hendricksen and Carli Rosenthal).
