Delly added to NBA’s Rising Stars Challenge

The Cleveland Plain Dealer is reporting that Cavaliers coach David Blatt announced today that former Saint Mary’s guard Matthew Dellavedova has been added to the World squad for the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge this weekend at the NBA All-Star Weekend in Brooklyn, N.Y.

“Obviously it’s a great honor,” Dellavedova told the paper’s Cavs writer Chris Haynes. “I didn’t think I would ever go to All-Star Weekend so it will be cool to check it out.”

According to NBA.com, the league’s annual showcase of premier young talent will debut a format that pits 10 first- and second-year NBA players from the United States against 10 first- and second-year NBA players from around the world. The game, set for Friday, Feb. 13, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, will be televised live by TNT at 6 p.m. PT, part of Turner Sports’ 30th year of All-Star coverage.
