SMC Baseball’s Villa Chimes In On New Baseballs

Saint Mary’s third baseman Anthony Villa took a moment at Monday’s Bay Area Baseball Media Day to discuss the new flatter-seam baseballs that college baseball is using this year and the Gaels’ man at the hot corner appears in today’s Associated Press story on the subject. Penned by AP reporter David Brandt (with an assist from local AP sports guru Janie McCauley), the story gives several viewpoints from around the nation on how the new balls might impact play this season.

Villa and the Gaels open the 2015 season on Friday in Seattle. The home opener is set for Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. against Eastern Michigan. Tickets for that game, as well as all SMC home baseball contests, can be purchased by clicking the Tickets link at SMCGaels.com or by calling the SMC Athletic Ticket Office at (925) 631-GoTx.
