WBK | Nicholson Earns pickandroll.com.au Player Of The Week

Lauren Nicholson has been named women’s basketball Player of the Week by pickandroll.com.au, a website that specializes in Aussie Hoops.

Nicholson led the Gaels to two road victories on arguably the toughest WCC road swing. She scored 20 points in each win, giving Nicholson six consecutive games of scoring at least 20 points. In the 57-56 win over San Diego, Nicholson scored 20 points with five rebounds, including a clutch 10-for-11 from the free-throw line. In the 61-51 win over BYU, Nicholson tallied her first career double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds with four assists and two steals.

In the two road wins, Nicholson averaged 20 points per game (11-for-28 fgs), 8.0 rebounds, and converted 15-of-17 from the free-throw line. Saint Mary’s enters the week 13-5 and 6-1 in the West Coast Conference.

The Gaels were also the runner-up for ESPNw National Team of the Week after the road wins at San Diego and BYU. ESPNw is also highlighting the Saint Mary’s vs. Gonzaga match-up on Thursday night as a game to watch this weekend. All SMC home games are broadcast on SMCGaels.com.
