SMC Pitcher Drew Strotman Receives Academic Award

Saint Mary’s pitcher Drew Strotman will be one of the honored guests at tonight’s Santa Clara County Hot Stove Banquet when the freshman from Sunnyvale, Calif. receives the Frank Bettencourt High School Academic Achievement Award.

The banquet, which is now in its 31st year, honors Santa Clara County baseball players from the Major and Minor Leagues, college and high school. Colorado Rockies star Troy Tulowitzki will be the night’s special guest and Pac-12 Network broadcaster JB Long will serve as master of ceremonies.

Strotman and the Gaels kick off the season on Feb. 13 at Seattle. The 2015 home opener is set for Feb. 20 against Eastern Michigan. Tickets to that game, as well as all SMC home baseball games, are available now by clicking the Tickets link on or by calling the SMC Athletic Ticket Office at (925) 631-GoTx.
