Yes it is only January, but the Gaels are getting noticed on the national level as Charlie Creme’s latest ESPNw Bracketology has the Gaels as a No.13 seed in Tempe.
Saint Mary’s is off to an 11-4 start with a pair of its losses coming against the expected Mountain West champ Fresno State and the expected A-10 champ George Washington. The other two SMC losses came against teams from BCS conferences in Boston College and Virginia.
The Gaels have non-conference wins over Iowa State and USC, both in Creme’s latest field of 64.
The only other WCC team in the predicted field is Gonzaga as the Bulldogs are considered on the bubble with the Gaels locked into the WCC-Automatic bid.
Saint Mary’s hosts Pacific on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. in McKeon Pavilion.
