Incoming Saint Mary’s freshman Agnieszka Kudziela continued to have a major impact for Team Australia at the Asian Women’s Under-19 Volleyball Championship over the weekend, leading the Aussies in kills in matches against New Zealand and Vietnam.
Australia dropped both matches, but Saturday’s contest against rival New Zealand went to four sets thanks, in part, to Kudziela’s efforts on offense. She led the team with 10 kills, two blocks and two service points en route to a team-high 14 points.
On Sunday, Team Australia fell in three sets to Vietnam but Kudziela was again at the head of her team’s attack. She picked up 11 points, with a team-high nine kills to go with a block and a service point.
The tournament, which is being held in Chinese Taipei, takes a rest day on Monday before resuming on Tuesday. The final day of competition is set for Thursday.
