SMC golf signee nearly qualifies for British Open

Saint Mary’s golf signee Pavan Sagoo was the top amateur finisher and nearly qualified to play in the 2014 British Open after firing rounds of 68-74 at a final qualifying event at Sunningdale Golf Club this week.

Sagoo, a London native, was just one stroke out of the lead after the first round and finished tied for 11the overall.  He finished three strokes from qualifying for the Open, the oldest of the four major championships in professional golf.

He joins Roman Aragon, Conner Blick, Perry Cohen and James Trevino as the Gaels’ incoming class of freshman golfers.  A complete roster for the SMC golf team can be found here.
