A couple of Saint Mary’s golfers posted good results recently in amateur competition, led by Jonathan De Los Reyes‘ qualification for the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Boundary Oak Golf Course.
A native of Antioch, De Los Reyes, winner of this year’s Alameda Commuters Championship and the current leader in the NCGA Points standings for Player of the Year honors, posted a 6-under 66 in the first round. He carded a second round 69 to finish at 135, two behind medalist Ryan Sloane.
Junior Maclayne Marr and recently graduated Cody Robinson finished tied for fourth, just one stroke behind De Los Reyes.
The U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship will be held July 14-19 at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas. It will be the final time the event will be contested.
Senior Tye Gabriel shot a first round 67 and finished tied for 13th in stroke play at the 105th Oregon Amateur Championships. The Portland native defeated LMU signee Billy Pollock 6&5 in the round of 64 of match play, but fell in the round of 32 in 22 holes.
