Spurs, Mills take 2-1 series lead in NBA Finals

Former Saint Mary’s guard Patrick Mills and the San Antonio Spurs put on one of the most efficient offensive displays in NBA Finals history last night when they defeated the Miami Heat 111-92 to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.

Mills scored five points with four assists and two rebounds in just more than 15 minute of action as the Spurs shot nearly 60 percent from the field and led by as many as 25 points in the game.  San Antonio shot an incredible 87 percent in the first half of the game, including a perfect 4-for-4 from behind the 3-point arc.

The two teams return to Miami for game 4 of the series Thursday at 6 p.m. (Pacific).  The game will be televised live by ABC-TV.

Mills will join many of his former SMC teammates at the Gaels Basketball All-Star Classic and Alumni Weekend, scheduled for Sunday, June 29 at McKeon Pavilion.  Matthew Dellavedova, Paul Marigney, Diamon Simpson, Mickey McConnell, Omar Samhan, Daniel Kickert and Rob Jones are among the players scheduled to participate.  To purchase advance tickets, click here.
