SMC men’s hoops makes field day appearance

Members of the Saint Mary’s men’s basketball team weren’t hard to spot at today’s annual Moraga Rotary Field Day at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School.  They were the tall guys helping measure the long jump, organize the softball throw, rebound the free throw shooting contest and determine the winners of the sprint and sack races.

“We all really like getting out in the community and being a part of events like this,” said freshman forward Dane Pineau, who joined classmate Emmett Naar in handing out camp flyers to the parents in attendance.  “Plus, we are all kids at heart so it is loads of fun to be out here.”

The most active Gael involved wasn’t one of the players.  It was clearly head coach Randy Bennett.  He was assisting Rotary members at various events, all while giving out high-fives and words of encouragement to all the kids in attendance – including his sons Cade and Chase.
