Former SMC guard named to Auburn hoops staff

Former Saint Mary’s guard Todd Golden has been named director of basketball operations at Auburn University under new head coach Bruce Pearl.

Golden, a native of Phoenix, Ariz., graduated from Saint Mary’s in 2007 and finished his career as Saint Mary’s all-time leader in free-throw percentage (.852) and eighth with 269 career assists.

He has spent the last two seasons at Columbia University with former SMC assistant Kyle Smith as director of basketball operations (2012-13) and assistant coach (2013-14).

After graduation Golden played two years professionally for Maccabi Haifa in Israel’s top division. In 2009 he was co-captain of the USA Open Team, coached by Pearl, that took the gold at the Maccabiah Games.
