Neff, Gaels Earn National Media Recognition

Cameron Neff might be just a freshman and the 2014 Saint Mary’s baseball team might be fighting to establish a new identity but the early season progress by both is starting to garner some positive national attention.

College Baseball Daily West Coast Editor Shotgun Spratling was in the house at Goodwin Field last night to take in Neff’s four-hit shutout of No. 8/9 Cal State Fullerton and offered his report of the freshman’s second straight dominant performance. Spratling chatted after the game with Neff and SMC head coach Eric Valenzuela and posted videos and photos early this morning.

Perfect Game’s Kendall Rogers also took notice of the Gaels’ win, labeling it the “Upset of the Day” in his daily roundup. And, Baseball America made mention of the game in their “Top 25 Upsets” column.

Saint Mary’s takes the field today for the rubber game of its three-game series with the Titans. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
