Kalfus Plays For Northwest League Championship

Former Saint Mary’s baseball player Brenden Kalfus has had a pretty good 2013 already. His 36-game hitting streak this spring was the longest in NCAA Division I baseball last season. He got drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Saint Mary’s.

Tonight, Kalfus will try to add some hardware to that list as his Vancouver Canadians take on the Boise Hawks in the final game of the three-game Northwest League Championship series. Vancouver is the Blue Jays’ Single-A affiliate while the Hawks are an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.

Kalfus hit .268 in his first professional season, and started in left field for the Canadians on Sunday as they forced a decisive game three with a 4-2 win.
