Pineau double-double helps push Aussies into FIBA semis

Saint Mary’s hoops signee Dane Pineau registered a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds to help lead the Australian U19 National Team to an 87-76 quarterfinal victory over Spain at the FIBA U19 World Championships today in Prague, Czech Republic.

Pineau, a Melbourne native, also handed out two assists and blocked two shots to help guide the Aussies into tomorrow’s semifinals against either Croatia or Serbia.Β  Those two teams play a 9 a.m. (Pacific) quarterfinal game this morning.

Tomorrow’s semifinal games as well as Sunday’s bronze and gold medal contests will be streamed live on ESPN3.com.Β  You can also watch a replay of today’s game on ESPN3.com.
