Pineau, Aussies into quarterfinals at FIBA U19 Worlds

Small_DSC_4159Saint Mary’s signee Dane Pineau and the Australian National Team defeated Russia today to qualify for Friday’s quarterfinal round at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championships in Prague, Czech Republic.

The Aussies, which finished fourth in Group F, will face Spain on Friday at 6:30 a.m. (Pacific).  The game will be streamed live on LiveBasketball.tv.  Live statistics of every game during the World Championships are available on prague2013.fiba.com.

Pineau has been one of Australia’s top performers throughout the championships, leading the team with an average of 7.8 rebounds and scoring a second-best 12.2 points per game.  He scored in double-figures in five of the team’s seven games so far with a high of 21 against Serbia.  Pineau has grabbed double-figures in rebounding three times with a high of 15 twice, both against China.
