Pineau shines in Aussie loss; Steindl & Young victorious

A few Saint Mary’s hoopsters continue to see action in various international competitions with mixed results.

Gael basketball signee Dane Pineau went 10-of-13 from the field en route to a team-high 21 points, but the Aussies dropped a 78-57 decision to Serbia at the 2013 FIBA U19 World Championships in the Czech Republic.  In his two tournament appearances so far, Pineau leads the team with a 16.5 point scoring average.

Former SMC players Clint Steindl and Mitchell Young are playing for the Emerging Boomers at the Stankovic Cup in China.  Information is a little less readily available on this event, but we do know Steindl scored 9 points in the win over Argentina yesterday and Young chipped-in 9 in today’s 64-49 win over host China.
