Pineau among Emus’ leaders heading into world championships

Saint Mary’s signee Dane Pineau is among the leaders for the Australian U19 National Team that opens play at the FIBA U19 World Championship in Prague, Czech Republic later this week.

Pineau, a native of Melbourne, averaged 18.7 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting .689 from the field in the Emus’ recent three games against Argentina, Spain and Russia.   He led the team in scoring twice with a high of 25 against Argentina.

The Emus open play Thursday against Senegal in Group C of the world championships.  The group also includes Serbia (Friday) and Brazil (Saturday).
