Agosta Earns Pair Of Honors

The accolades continue to pile up for former SMC pitcher Martin Agosta.

Now a San Francisco Giants farmhand pitching for the Single-A Augusta Greenjackets,  Agosta struck out 10 in seven scoreless innings last Friday, helping Augusta defeat Lexington 4-0.

That effort earned the right-hander some kudos on Monday as he was named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week.

Agosta also got some more welcome news Monday, learning that he has earned a spot on the South Atlantic League South Division All-Star Team. He’ll pitch for the South squad in a game played June 18 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, N.J.

On the season, Agosta now boasts a 6-2 record with a 2.19 ERA in 11 games. He has 81 strikeouts in 61 2/3 innings, and opponents are hitting a paltry .188 against him.
