Mills joins Meschery in rare NBA Finals club

When the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat take to the court for Game 1 of the NBA Finals tomorrow night, former Saint Mary’s guard Patrick Mills will become the second Gael ever to have a chance to earn a NBA championship.

Mills, who has played in 58 games for the Spurs this season, will join former SMC forward Tom Meschery in the elite club of Gaels in the NBA Finals.Β  Meschery helped the San Francisco Warriors to the league finals in 1967, before losing to Wilt Chamberlain and the Philadelphia 76ers in six games.

Game 1 is scheduled to tip-off live in Miami at 6 p.m. (PT) Thursday and will be televised live by ABC.Β  Here is a complete series schedule.
