Omar’s “O-Zone” hosts area kids at Gaels hoops game

Last weekend, Hayward Youth Academy president Chris Major (SMC ’83), along with former Saint Mary’s center Omar Samhan and his mother, Marianne Black-Samhan, organized Omar’s “O-Zone” at Saturday’s LMU game.

The event brought approximately 300 area middle school-aged youths to campus, providing an opportunity to check out Saint Mary’s College, get exposed to college life and cheer on the Gaels in their 79-70 win over the Lions.

The Lamorinda Patch has this great story about the event.  Thanks to Chris and everyone who put on this worthwhile event for the kids.

  1. Thank you for the support of youth, and the need for first generation college bound students to see college early in life. Exposure in opportunity are the best teachers. Go Gaels, and Go Omar Samhan’10
