With the euphoria of a local professional football team earning an upcoming trip to the Super Bowl, coverage of college basketball by traditional Bay Area news outlets has been noticeably decreased this year.

In addition, the Gaels continue to get some love in the 503. The Oregonian’s Nick Daschel wrote an extended game story that centered on the Portland-area influence on the SMC program, noting that the Gaels have more players from Portland-metro area than any other Division I school in the country.
