Delly moving up WCC career charts

With the Gaels opening up defensive of their consecutive West Coast Conference regular-season championships this week, it seems appropriate to take a quick look to see where Saint Mary’s guard Matthew Dellavedova ranks among the league’s all-time career leaders.

Delly’s 637 career assists currently ranks sixth all-time and he is just three shy of Gonzaga’s Blake Stepp (2000-04) for fifth.  Seattle’s Carl Ervin is fourth with 659.  Gonzaga’s Matt Santangelo is third with 558 and LMU’s Terrell Lowrey is second with 689.  The WCC’s all-time career leader is USF’s Orlando Smart, who recorded 902 assists from 1990-94.

In scoring, Delly has 1,624 career points, which is just 98 shy of Santa Clara’s Brian  Jones (1996-00) for 25th all-time.  Once Delly gets to 1,722, he will move up the list pretty quickly as there are 10 players within the next 100 or so points.

Finally, in 3-point field goals Delly is sitting at 239 – which is just four shy of Gonzaga’s Derek Raivio for 10th on the league’s career chart.
