Last weekend, former Saint Mary’s men’s basketball standouts Paul Marigney and Mickey McConnell faced each other for the first time this season. While Mickey’s Tezenis Verona side returned home with a 71-67 victory, both players registered excellent outings.
Marigney scored a team-high 22 points to go with six rebounds and four assists for Aget Service Imola, a Lega Due team from Bologna. He is averaging 17.7 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He is 10th in the league in scoring and sixth in assists.
McConnell went 6-for-10 from the field and 6-of-6 from the free throw line for 19 points to go with three rebounds and two assists. His league averages are 12.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
The two teams will face each other in Verona on March 24.
