Former Saint Mary’s forward Rob Jones scored 18 points yesterday on 4-of-5 from the field and 3-of-4 behind the 3-point arc to lead Stelmet Zielona Gora to an 85-61 win over Belgian side Telenet Oostende in Group F play at the EuroCup.
Stelmet is current in second-place in the group with a 2-2 record, behind undefeated Unics Kazan, a Russian side that won the EuroCup in 2011. It returns to action Saturday against Daniel Kickert’s former team, PGE Turów Zgorzelec.
In other Gaels-related EuroCup news, E.J. Rowland scored 17 points with six assists but his VEF Riga side dropped an 82-77 decision to BC Triumph Lyubertsy in Group C. Riga is 1-3 in EuroCup competition.
