Three Gaels from the Saint Mary’s baseball team were named in the Alaska League Top 30 Prospects from summer ball. Collin Ferguson, Jordan Mills and Tanner Kichler were selected as 30 athletes from various Universities participated this summer.
Ferguson will be a sophomore at SMC in 2013. Last season he was named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American and All-West Coast Conference All-Freshman team after hitting .315 with 18 extra base hits. He also sported a .992 fielding percentage and started two games on the mound. As a pitcher he faced 17 batters and had a 0.00 ERA in three innings of work.
Mills will be a junior on the 2013 Gaels. Last year Mills started eight games and threw 56.2 innings, earning four wins on the year. In his two seasons at SMC, Mills holds opponents to a .269 batting average and has 77 strikeouts in 103 career innings pitched.
Kichler will be a sophomore in 2013 after pitching in 14 games last season. For the season, he was 1-0 with a 2.29 ERA in 14 appearances.
