At about the time Pepperdine defeated Loyola Marymount, the Gaels arrived at the Oakland airport and found out they would face the Waves on Friday at 12:00 p.m. The Gaels have defeated the Waves twice this season, however the last meeting just last weekend, was a three-point SMC victory in Malibu.
Fans can expect a competitive game as the last time these squads met in the WCC Tournament (2010), the Waves (No. 3 seed) defeated the No. 2 seeded Gaels.
After the Gaels reached Las Vegas in the evening, SMC took the bus over to the Palms, checked-in, and had a team meal. The Gaels had a team meeting after dinner in preparation for the match-up with the Waves on Friday.
The team is expected to arrive at the Orleans Arena at approximately 10:45 a.m. for the noon tip. Some Gaels are expected to make a brief appearance at the WCC’s annual Kids Day before taking the court.
